After nearly 5 years in business, A Little Bit Of Everything gift shop is closing it’s doors at the current location at Imperial Plaza, 725 Kapiolani Boulevard. My fingers are crossed that owner, Val, will find another location soon. An updated post is forthcoming, pending the outcome of ALBOE’s search for a new home. Good luck and best wishes, Val! I look forward to visiting you soon at your new location.

“Karen, you write well. I’m impressed with your clear and straight-forward style, and your ability to include many details without being tedious. Write some magazine articles, perhaps lifted straight from your book, and start thinking about your next book, hopefully from a royalty publisher!”
Many thanks to HMSA’s Island Scene for sharing my story in the Fall 2014 issue. I hope it will remind women to get an annual mammogram.

ORIGINAL POST: A Little Bit of Everything gift shop (ALBOE) is once again sponsoring a fundraiser to support the fight against breast cancer. This year’s event will be held on Friday, October 24th, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. ALBOE proprietor, Val Kubota, has invited her vendors to participate by donating a portion of their proceeds earned at the event. The funds raised will be donated to a local charity that specializes in treating breast cancer.
Whiteginger Press will be there handing out free breast cancer awareness ribbons. Copies of IF I FALL APART will also be available for $10 with 50% of sales being donated to fighting cancer.
A Little Bit of Everything is located in The Imperial Plaza, 725 Kapiolani Boulevard, 1st Floor, in Honolulu, Hawaii.
We hope to see you there!
Many thanks to Lori Chaffin for including a brief write-up about IF I FALL APART in the “Community Bookshelf” section of Hawaii Wellness Magazine. Here is a link to the June 2014 issue. Scroll down to page 24:
Today I made my matching donation to Susan G. Komen Hawaii’s Race for the Cure. Thanks to family and friends who donated a total of $175 towards this worthy cause. With my matching donation of $175, we raised $350!! Mahalo to Jerry R, Shelley O, David E, Janet S, Joyce Y, Tom M, and Lori M for your generosity and support!
Here is a link to my personal page:
I am finally ready to participate in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure for the very first time. Seven years after completing active treatment for breast cancer, I am looking forward to celebrating life with my sister-survivors. Believe me, it’s been a long journey to get to this point.
I humbly ask for your support to help me reach my goal of raising $200 (increased from $125) for Susan G. Komen Hawaii. Seventy-five percent of the money raised will remain here in the islands. In addition, I will match each donation (up to $200 total) from the proceeds of my book “If I Fall Apart.” That’s $400 to help find a cure for cancer, but I can’t do it without your help. If 20 people donate just $10 (tax-deductible!), I will exceed my goal!
Please check out my participant page as you consider making a donation to support this great cause: http://hawaii.info-komen.org/site/TR/RacefortheCure/HNL_HawaiiAffiliate?px=19131361&pg=personal&fr_id=4365
If you prefer not to make a donation online, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Mahalo for your kind consideration!
P.S. – Many thanks to those who already donated to the cause!
As promised, a portion of the proceeds from IF I FALL APART is donated to fighting cancer. Today, Whiteginger Press donated $200 in unrestricted funds to The Queen’s Medical Center.
Many thanks to Queen’s for the excellent care I received during my diagnosis, treatment and recovery from Stage IIB breast cancer. Thanks also to Sharlene Tsuda and Laura Yamamoto for taking time from their busy day for this photo op.
